Bowl History:
The BCS National Championship Game was added for the 2006-2007 NCAA Division Football season as the fifth and final Bowl Championship Series game. The game's location will be rotated among sites of the other 4 BCS games: the Sugar, Orange, Fiesta and Rose Bowls. The initial contest was held on January 8, 2007 at the site of the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona and was won by the University of Florida over Ohio State University. The 2009 contest will be hosted at the site of the Orange Bowl near Miami, Florida.
